Rapid alert system for food and feed (RASFF)

Notifications of unsafe food, food contact products or feed

The State Food and Veterinary Service, in the process of official control over imported and marketed food and feed, provides information on unsafe food, food contact products and feed identified at the time of market control or import control, which were notified on the Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF).

Information on unsafe food, food contact products or feed identified at the time of market control or import control in the past month is provided in a table and is regularly updated. Previous notifications are stored on the RASFF publications archive.

The sale of unsafe products identified at the time of market control is stopped, whereas the already sold products are recalled from the market, destroyed or some other decision is taken in relation to them. The marketing of unsafe products identified at the time of import control is prohibited, they are destroyed, returned to the supplier or some other decision is taken in relation to` them.

Self-control and quality systems applied by importers, manufacturers and traders have to ensure that, after detection of an unsafe, unduly labelled product or a product, which is not in compliance with some other requirements, the following steps are taken by the establishment:

- the delivery of the product to the market is stopped in all of its units or branches,

- all legal persons, which have acquired the product, are informed,

- consumer notification measures are arranged.

Consumers who acquired any products that are not in compliance with safety requirements must first of all report to the seller so that the latter could take necessary measures and withdraw the product that is not in compliance with safety requirements from the market and inform the State Food and Veterinary Service.
