Director of the State Food and Veterinary Service of The Republic of Lithuania, Chef veterinary officer of Republic of Lithuania

Born on 24th of June 1957 in Alytus town.
In 1975 finished the Ryliškiai Secondary School in Alytus district.
In 1980 graduated the Veterinary Faculty of the Lithuanian Veterinary Academy.
In 1981 – 1985 – Head of Viduklė town Veterinary Hospital in Raseiniai district.
In 1985 – 1995 – Head of Lazdijai district State Veterinary Hospital.
In 1995 –2000 – Head of Alytus County State Veterinary Service.
In 2000 – 2001– Head of Alytus County State Veterinary Service (since 2000 - County State Food and Veterinary Service).
In 2001 – 2008 – Director of the National Veterinary Laboratory.
In 2008 – 2010 Director of the National Food and Veterinary Risk Assessment Institute.
Since 4th of October 2010 and at present Director of the State Food and Veterinary Service of The Republic of Lithuania, Chef Veterinary Inspector.

In 2006 defended PhD thesis on „Retrospective analysis of the prevalence, diagnostics and prevention of Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy and viral diseases in Lithuania“.

In 2001 – 2010 attended training courses in Japan, USA, France, Germany, Great Britain and other countries.

Co-author of the scientific articles in Lithuanian and foreign periodicals, co-author of books on healthy diet and prevention of animal diseases.

Team leader of World Organisation for Animal Health for the missions of experts in India, Tajikistan, Bulgaria, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Kazakhstan and other countries.

Member of Lithuanian Veterinary Association,
Member of Board of the International Business School of Vilnius University,
Expert of World Organization of Animal Health (OIE),
Member of Vilnius Rotary Club, 2009-2010 - President of Vilnius Rotary Club,
Chairman of the Council of Lithuanian University of Health Sciences.

Hobbies: book reading, sport, being in the open country.
Has command of the French, English and Russian languages.
Wife – Irena, daughter - Aiste, son - Jonas.
